Mango is such a delicious, magical fruit. Perfect for smoothies, or even margaritas. It’s the surprise ingredient for a fruit salsa and when its dried, the perfect snack. My own love affair with mangoes ended in London in 2009 when I discovered my allergy to it, I mean, who would have thought that swollen lips were a bad thing?
Even though I can’t have them any longer, I appreciate these sweet little fruits. It was pretty cool to read this article in Fortune recently talking about the island of Nevis, which is the neighbor island to St. Kitts— also Alexander Hamilton’s birthplace—where a lot of my books are based.
The short story - the article talks about Nevis having 44 different types of mangoes on the island, but local legend says there are more… waaaay more! If you head to the Caribbean and have a chance to stop on this island, make sure you do. It’s a very special spot filled with history, good food and great people.
